Summary: NEXTDC launched NEXTneutral, Australia’s first carbon-neutral colocation program. Under the program, NEXTDC will purchase carbon offsets from the Qantas Future Planet Partnership, Australasia’s largest carbon offset provider. Funds from the carbon offsets are then poured into habitat restorations, fire management, wind farms and other environmental projects to zero out NEXTDC’s carbon footprint. Globally, according to third party sources, data centres account for nearly 3% of electricity usage. NEXTneutral enables NEXTDC and its colocation user base to abate their part in the environmental impact.
